 The Royal Family's Tree Palace

Airabeth and her grand mother Tannie, the only two members left of the Royal Family, reside in the biggest Willow Tree in the whole of Woodwind Forest. The tree overhangs the Crescent Stream, a peaceful, narrow twist of water that winds around the very center of the forest causing an almost peninsula of woods in the heart of the Woodwind.

Airabeth took lessons with Tannie in the very top most branches of the Willow. Today, she was painting part of the stream.

Aira sighs, drawing a scolding look from her grandmother. "I'm sorry, Grandmama. It's just that you know I'd rather be outside of this weeping tree. Don't you think I could paint outside just as well as I could up here?"

Tannie's thin lips form a line as she looks down her small nose at Aira. "No. The view is better up here." She puts simply.

Tannie is the only one, besides Aira herself, of what Aira is and she was sure she could remove the scum blood, meaning Aira's father's blood, from her grand daughter. This, of course, was ridiculous.

Aira knew why her grandmother always looked at her like that when she asked to go out side, but she couldn't help who, or what, she was. Personally, she liked being original. Shaking herself out of her thoughts, she picked up her paintbrush and began to add a bright aqua color to her canvas. She loved the color aqua, the color of her eyes, the color of her wings, the color of water when the sun hit it the right way. She added a few more strokes and reluctantly cleansed the brush of the color before starting with a deep green.
